REMEMBERING 9/11

As we celebrate the beginning of 5782, Shabbat and September 11th align and an additional candle will be lit in many of our homes, a memorial candle. On this 20th Yahrzeit of the thousands of innocents murdered, these flames will be a reminder of the lives and loves forever lost and the intent to build a hopeful future. May their memories be a blessing. 

Back To School

As kids return to school, we are reminded of the importance of creating deep and long-lasting connections to Judaism at an early age. By supporting young learners, their educators, and continuing education opportunities, the Jewish Federation is investing in future generations while ensuring today’s youth grow into proud, confident and caring Jewish adults.

JEWISH EDUCATION

The Jewish Federation invests in the values-based education provided by Jewish Day School and Hebrew School education through our funding of need-based scholarships, Israel education and volunteer travel subsidies for programs that deepen Jewish identity, and rent subsidies and tenant services for the three Day Schools on our campuses.

EDUCATING THE EDUCATORS

The Jewish Federation invests $140,000 in enhanced professional development for Jewish educators and directors in our local synagogues and supplementary schools through Jewish Learning Venture’s Education Innovation Lab and Makom’s Teacher Education program.

BRINGING JEWISH EDUCATION TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS 

The Foundation for Jewish Day Schools funds enhanced curriculum content for public schools through Educational Improvement Organizations (EIO). This provides Holocaust education through the Youth Symposium on the Holocaust and the Mordechai Anielewicz Arts Competition sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council, several immigrant and tolerance focused programs sponsored by the National Museum of American Jewish History and the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, career oriented programs by JEVS Human Services and leadership programs through NCSY.

ENGAGING AT-RISK CHILDREN IN ISRAEL

The Jewish Federation invests in programs that change the future of at-risk children in Israel through partnerships with Atidim, Dror Educational Centers and Ofanim. These organizations provide skills to address emotional, social and family-related issues while also providing the education and resources to enlist in the army or complete national service, a stepping stone to higher education and many jobs.
