The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia connects young families with resources and engagement opportunities locally and in Israel that influence Jewish leadership and participation.  

Creating Lasting Connections

We support programs that enhance the sense of belonging to a Jewish community outside of traditional institutions by creating connections and shared experiences with those who share geography, interests, age, gender and more. 

Meet Nicole*

When Nicole’s grandfather first brought her to one of jkidphilly’s outdoor programs, he wasn’t sure what to expect. Due to some cognitive challenges, Nicole previously hadn’t been able to participate or connect with other Jewish children. That changed when they attended the jkidphilly event. Nicole was invited to participate in the relay races while being cheered on by other children. She had a fantastic time and now attends jkidphilly events regularly. 

Supported by the Jewish Federation, jkidphilly provides resources and community-wide programs that support the social, spiritual and educational needs of families raising Jewish children.

Expanding Jewish Pluralism to Young Israeli Families

The Jewish Federation promotes opportunities for diverse Jewish expressions and Jewish pluralism in Israel. We also support engagement opportunities between Jews in Philadelphia with peers in Israel.

Bringing Home
the Holidays

We are proud to fund Machon Ha'Chagim's Asif - Home for the Holidays program, because of its unique approach to enhancing Jewish Pluralism among young secular families. By providing holiday resource content online and delivering home kits throughout Israel for all Jewish festivals and holidays, the program aims to allow all Jews to take ownership of their own Jewish expressions. 

"We received the [Machon Ha'Chagim's] Tishrei activity kit. Firstly, it’s so attractive you just have to engage with it. The truth is I was skeptical about whether my kids would participate and was surprised when I put out the chutes and ladder game that they started to play (family reckoning before Yom Kippur). The kids got so into it and it started a really intimate and touching conversation for the whole family. For the first time, I feel like we are going to have a meaningful Yom Kippur!”
