On April 24, the Jewish Federation, in partnership with the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors of Philadelphia, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, hosted a hybrid Yom HaShoah event. People joined in person and via Facebook Livestream for the 58th Annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony to commemorate the six million Jews who perished in the Shoah and to honor the survivors living in our communities. The ceremony included candle lighting, music, readings and prayers. Watch the ceremony and learn more here.

We’re excited to share that Rabbanit Hadas Fruchter, of our grant-funded South Philadelphia Shtiebel, was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal. One of the first Orthodox Jewish women to seek ordination, Rabbanit Fruchter talks about the desire for community and how the South Philadelphia Shtiebel fills this need and how it pivoted during the pandemic soon after opening its doors in 2019. The Bucks County Kehillah of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is back with the biennial Bucks County Jewish Festival at Bucks County Community College on May 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Enjoy interactive educational booths about Israel, food, and fun activities for kids and adults. Held outdoors (weather permitting) with a few indoor activities, the festival is free but registration is highly encouraged.
