A Message of Gratitude
With another Annual Campaign coming to a close on Aug. 31, we reflect on a year that was marked with both unprecedented Jewish hate and unprecedented Jewish pride.
During this time, we were guided by our three pillars: caring for those in need locally, supporting Israel and global Jewry, and securing a vibrant Jewish future. Our Annual Campaign ensures that we can remain strong, connected and proud, and positions us to handle emergency situations and worldwide crises, like Oct. 7.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia firmly believes in the Jewish value of “Ve’ahavta le’reyakha kamokha” or “Love Your Neighbor As Thyself.”
In enacting this vision of advancing the lives of those who are underrepresented, at-risk and struggling, the Jewish Federation funds and collaborates with partner agencies that lead holistic socioeconomic initiatives and services that help people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
In alignment with this pillar, and thanks to your generosity, we were able to help Holocaust Survivors age with dignity, provide food for those in need, empower people with disabilities and prioritize mental health, and so much more this past fiscal year.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia firmly believes in the Jewish value of “Kol Yisrael arevim zeh la-zeh” or “All Jews are responsible for one another.”
In enacting this vision of being connected with the Jewish homeland and to Jews around the world, the Jewish Federation forms deep-rooted, global partnerships, funds organizations that enhance Jewish life and pride, provides basic everyday needs, and deploys rescue and relief services in times of crisis.
Since the recent conflicts first broke out in Ethiopia, Ukraine and Israel, the Jewish Federation has raised over $17 million to provide emergency aid to people living through these crises. Thanks to your support of our Annual Campaign, we are able to strengthen and uplift global Jewish communities so they are prepared for emergent situations.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia firmly believes that Jewish continuity relies on passing on the ancient traditions and the historic resiliency of the Jewish people onto the next generation – L’dor V’dor.
In enacting this vision of creating a vibrant Jewish future, the Jewish Federation funds organizations that provide opportunities for the local community to connect with each other and to their Jewish heritage. In addition to supporting these institutions, the Jewish Federation also protects them by providing security resources at no cost while enhancing the community’s ability to stand up to Jewish hate through trainings and educational programs.
Since Oct. 7, there has been an unprecedented rise in antisemitism locally – and we have stepped in to combat it, training over 1,000 personnel at 64 organizations through 231 security trainings, walkthroughs and consultations this past fiscal year.
In addition to the funds awarded through our Annual Campaign, we recently announced a number of grant awards: the Bernard and Etta Weinberg Family Endowment Fund, Women of Vision Endowment Fund, and the Jewish Federation Real Estate Fund.
These funds are all professionally staffed and grant requests are fully vetted and considered by committees of lay leaders before award decisions are made.
Three of our recently announced grants include:
The Bernard and Etta Weinberg Family Endowment Fund grants in the following areas: geriatric counseling and care management, older adults, Jewish education, and health and human services in Israel. For Fiscal Year 2025, more than $1,095,000 in grants will be provided to 15 programs in the Greater Philadelphia area and in Israel. Learn more here.
The Jewish Federation Real Estate Fund grants help secure local and global Jewish communities through capital investments. In 2024-2025, JFRE allocated $317,096 to 10 projects locally and in Israel. This is in addition to the $232,000 that JFRE allocated this year to the post Oct. 7 humanitarian relief efforts in Israel. Learn more here.
Women of Vision Endowment Fund grants empower self-identifying women and girls through social changemaking. For the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years, Women of Vision granted $226,429 to four local organizations. In 2024, Women of Vision was part of multiple collaborative grants to uplift the lives of those in Israel post-Oct. 7. Learn more here.
