Supporting Women's Empowerment

“Being a part of Jewish Women International (JWI) Philly Young Women's Impact Network has been transformative. I found a supportive community of women who truly care about each other's growth and wellbeing.”

Philly Board at Leadership Conference in DC

The Jewish Federation is committed to uplifting self-identifying women and girls locally, in Israel and elsewhere internationally. We do this by funding organizations that advance the lives of women and by offering opportunities for like-minded women to come together and do good work through the Women's Philanthropy and Women of Vision groups.

  • $1.7 million awarded through the Women of Vision Endowment Fund to advance the lives of women and girls in Greater Philadelphia and Israel since 2001
  • 730 proud members of Lion of Judah, a giving society for women who generously donate $5,000 or more a year to the Jewish Federation
  • 200 local young adult women received financial literacy resources from Jewish Women International, supported by the Jewish Federation’s Women of Vision group

    Women's Philanthropy Welcomes New Director

“I am drawn to Women’s Philanthropy because of the incredible power of women to create change. The ability to inspire and connect with others through philanthropy is very exciting to me. As a mother, I see this as an opportunity to be a role model for my daughter — showing her the importance of generosity, leadership, and the strength of women working together to build a better future for our community.”

     –  Lannie Hulnick, Women's Philanthropy Director

Creating Systemic Change for Jewish Girls and Women

"jGirls+ has allowed me to feel more comfortable engaging with my peers and being in spaces with fellow teens. I used to feel a lot of anxiety in such spaces, but the JGirls+ community is extremely accepting and kind. ”

The Jewish Federation's Women of Vision is a membership-based group which supports organiations that create systemic change for Jewish girls and women. All Women of Vision members have the opportunity to cast a vote on programs they believe deserve funding to create and inspire social change and justice for Jewish women and girls. Women of Vision was founded in 1994 and its first grant was allocated in 2001. From its inception, WOV has collectively decided and distributed through its endowment fund more than $1.7 million to nonprofit organizations in Greater Philadelphia and Israel. WOV annually rotates its grant distribution to either Greater Philadelphia or Israel, a new system which began in 2018.
