Creating a vibrant Jewish future starts at home. This month’s FedFive spotlights how the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia supports families with young children and teens – locally and in Israel – through connection, resilience and leadership.
From Generation to Generation
Jewish continuity relies on passing traditions and resilience from one generation to the next – L’dor V’dor. With your support, we fund programs that connect families and youth to Jewish life:
1,000+ local teens participated in supported Jewish youth programs
3,500 Israeli teens participated in entrepreneurship programs through Unistream
5,700 children received free Jewish-themed books through PJ Library

From Childhood
“We would not be where we are today without the Jewish Federation. Families with young children are the future of
the Jewish community.”
– Terri Soifer,
Director of Strategy,
Makom Community
The Jewish Federation works to support organizations like Makom Community, which provides after-school education and summer programs in Center City, Philadelphia. With its child-led “Jewish Placemaking” approach, Makom helps families explore Jewish life together in meaningful, accessible ways.

From Teenhood
“I would not be able to have such a strong Jewish community locally and globally without Diller, which to me is the most important part of keeping my Jewish identity alive.”
– Anjali Holloman,
Diller Teen Fellow
The Diller Teen Fellowship, led locally by the Kaiserman JCC and funded by the Jewish Federation, empowers 10th and 11th grade students to explore their Jewish identity, build leadership skills and embrace tikkun olam (repairing the world).

From the Home
“Resilience is the foundation for thriving in an ever-changing world.”
– Dr. Ken Ginsburg
In partnership with the Center for Parent and Teen Communication (CPTC), the Jewish Federation launched a science-backed initiative that equips Jewish families with the tools for resilience, effective communication and mental health support – anchored in Jewish values of compassion, justice and repair.
“The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia was one of the first to identify the need to support the evacuees. You made it possible to provide emotional and educational solutions for the children and youth of Kiryat Shmona and we are grateful for that."
– Branco Weiss Director of Resource Development
Liat Zack
Since Oct. 7, many Israeli children have faced evacuation, disruptive schooling and trauma.
With the Jewish Federation’s support, Branco Weiss created pop-up schools for displaced students from Kiryat Shmona, providing academic structure and critical psychological care.
